Much is happening with our musicians at First Baptist Church, and, as Thanksgiving approaches, I am thank- ful for all those who selflessly give of their time and tal- ents to worship God with instrument and in song each week. Whether it be with voice, piano, guitar, organ, percussion, handbells, or ukulele....I thank you for your contribution and for your dedication. The music you produce is wonderful, but, more importantly, the fel- lowship in worship is what God desires for all of us. Fi- nally, I am thankful for our sound technicians, the peo- ple we don’t usually see and heavily depend upon. Thank you for all you do to make sure God’s message in word and song is heard each week!

“I will praise God’s name in song and glorify Him with thanksgiving.” Psalm 69:30

Let us praise Him!

Our children’s choirs – Joyful Noise (PreK), Music Makers(K-2), and Young Musicians(3-5) – are preparing music to share in worship as well as for two Wednesday evening programs. The following are dates for these services or programs.

Children – On Wednesday nights, we have three children’s choirs just waiting for your children.Joyful Noise – preschool age children
Music Makers – kindergarten through second grade age children
Young Musicians – third through fifth grade age children
Each of these choirs will be singing during worship throughout the year. In the Spring, plans are in the works for the older two groups to present a children’s musical. Most importantly, children will learn about the importance of music in worship and about how God has given them a voice to worship Him in song. We plan to have lots of fun singing and praising God!
Each of you and each of our children have some wonderful opportunities to join one of these groups to praise God with voices and with instruments. Come join us!
Sing to the Lord! Cheryl

The Chancel Choir leads in worship each Sunday. Their anthems and service music are chosen to enhance the weekly scriptures, and reflect a variety of styles. They prepare two major seasonal presentations, for Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter. For those special presentations, they welcome visiting choir members. Their rehearsal is on Wednesday evening at 7:15 in the choir loft.

The children's music ministry at First Baptist provides a program of music education, theological training, and worship preparation for children ages two through sixth grade. We appreciate the contributions our children make to worship, and we often offer them opportunities to lead in worship, either by singing, reading, or playing instruments. Choir programs offer our children preparation for various components of worship so that they are informed participants in weekly worship, as well as in the seasons of the Christian calendar. Children's choirs (two age groups) meet on Wednesday afternoons from 4:30-5:45 pm.
Music Friends & Music Makers: ages 2 - kindergarten, meet in the preschool department, upstairs in the old sanctuary building. Young Musicians: 1st - 6th grade, meet in the music room, upstairs in the old sanctuary.

Granite City Ringers are an adult handbell choir (5 octaves) that rehearses on Sunday evening at 6:30 in the handbell room. They play for worship several times a year. The ringers enjoy participating in handbell festivals, both local and regional.

Youth music offers opportunities for singing, handbells, and various other forms of worship leading. Youth music is currently project-based. Rehearsing, percussion ensembles, handbells and voices as needed for worship and special events.
